"Famine" conjures ominous images of clouds of choking dust and debris, blasted deserts dotted with the bones of animals, and skeletally thin wretches, clad in rags and screaming, their ribs free to count and their skin leathery and drained of life. That was the visual that we came up with, anyway. As such, The Four Horsemen: Famine is the essence of desiccation and dusty powder, redolent with the dry, parchment-like character of dehydrated flowers and cracked earth. Notes of rose, jasmine, vanilla, and cedar enfold the core chypre accord, the blend of citrus, resins, and moss that symbolizes Death and wends its way through every one of the Four Horsemen fragrances. Blended with this is the smell of bleached rock, sharp and forward to the nose, an overwhelmingly ominous addition that bespeaks the suffering brought on by the depletion of even a basic food supply.
